The IEC Achievement Awards celebrate those whose excellence, dedication, and contributions have made a meaningful impact on IEC, its communities, and the electrical and systems contracting industry.
The IEC Industry Impact Award honors a member (Individuals, Industry Partners) who has shown outstanding dedication to the industry and the merit-shop philosophy. Through leadership and advocacy, they drive initiatives that advance IEC, champion merit-shop policies, and enhance training. Their influence inspires others, shaping the industry’s future and empowering positive change.
The IEC Community Impact Award honors members (Individuals, Contractor Companies, Chapters) who unite for a community-focused initiative to create positive change through volunteer efforts. Community service efforts are not limited to the electrical industry and can be any service or charitable event/activity that benefits others (outside of IEC).
The Gene Mini Lifetime Achievement Award honors a member (Individuals) whose innovative contributions, exemplary leadership, and long‑standing commitment to IEC have significantly shaped both the organization and the industry. Their enduring dedication to mentoring and active involvement in IEC highlights their essential role in nurturing talent and fostering collaboration across the IEC community.
The IEC Individual Awards celebrate members whose unwavering dedication and commitment to excellence has positively impacted IEC and advanced the electrical and systems contracting industry. Their achievements reflect their passion and drive to propel the organization and the industry forward.
The IEC Alumni Impact Award honors an IEC apprentice program alumni (current IEC member) who demonstrates exceptional dedication, skill, and commitment to excellence. They have made significant contributions to IEC, both nationally and locally, by actively participating in initiatives that advance the organization’s mission.
The IEC Contractor Impact Award honors an IEC Contractor member who has distinguished themselves as a leader through exceptional contributions to both IEC and the industry. With a long-standing commitment to excellence and innovation, their leadership has driven progress, fostered collaboration, and made a lasting impact on the organization and community.
The IEC Future Impact Award honors a member (Individuals, Industry Partners, Apprentices, Chapter Staff and Instructors) who actively supports IEC at both the National and Chapter levels through consistent involvement and service. They lead by example, positively influence the profession, and represent the next generation of electrical professionals poised to inspire and lead others forward.
The IEC Chapter Awards celebrate the excellence, achievement, and impact of chapters on IEC and the electrical and systems contracting industry.
The IEC Apprenticeship Impact Award honors a Chapter (using the IEC four-year apprentice curriculum) whose innovative teaching methods enhance learning outcomes. Their supportive learning environment strengthens apprentice retention rates. Active involvement in curriculum development and strategic partnerships enriches the impact on apprentices and the industry.
The IEC Chapter Executive Director of the Year Award honors an Executive Director who has shown exceptional leadership, accomplishments, and service. They have driven collaboration among Chapters, supported IEC’s national growth, and contributed to legislative efforts. Their proactive leadership has boosted Chapter growth, and their involvement in educational programs and National events showcases their commitment to the IEC community.
The IEC Chapter of the Year Award honors IEC Chapters who have provided their members with exemplary service and demonstrated notable growth over the past year. The Chapter demonstrates strong leadership through active Board involvement and member contributions to IEC National. New innovations and initiatives enhance member benefits, and community outreach and promotional efforts further elevate the Chapter’s visibility and impact.
The IEC Legislative Impact Award honors an IEC Chapter that has made significant strides in achieving IEC’s legislative goals by pursuing initiatives that seek to promote and support the merit shop philosophy.
The IEC National Advocacy Awards honors Chapters who are leading the charge in shaping the policies affecting our industry. Recognition is based on active involvement in IEC’s advocacy efforts, including Action Alert responses, PAC and Freedom Fund contributions, meetings with legislators, and participation in the IEC Policy Conference. No need to apply—Chapters earn this distinction through measurable advocacy impact tracked by IEC’s Government Affairs team.
Award categories by Chapter size:
The Awards of Excellence in Electrical Construction honor IEC Contractor Member Companies that exhibit excellence in electrical or systems construction by striving for total quality and excellence. Only projects completed from July 16, 2025 – July 15, 2026 may be submitted, regardless of start date. An independent panel of electrical contractors, inspectors, and other experts in the field will judge submissions.

Category A: Single Family Residences
Category B: Multi-Family Residences with contract amounts up to $5,000,000
Category C: Multi-Family Residences with contract amounts over $5,000,000
(Includes office buildings, institutions, banks, restaurants, retail facilities, churches, outdoor lighting, etc.)
Category A: Electrical contract amounts up to $500,000
Category B: Electrical contract amounts from $500,001-$2,000,000
Category C: Electrical contract amounts from $2,000,001-$5,000,000
Category D: Electrical contract amounts from $5,000,001-$7,000,000
Category E: Electrical contract amounts over $7,000,000
(Includes manufacturing, utilities, processing, transportation, warehouses, etc.)
Category A: Electrical contract amounts up to $3,000,000
Category B: Electrical contract amounts from $3,000,001-$7,000,000
Category C: Electrical contract amounts over $7,000,000
(Includes low-voltage systems construction, emphasizing innovation, quality, cost efficiency, and environmental responsibility.)
Category A: Power Generation / Solar & Wind
Category B: LEED / Green Building
Category C: Energy Efficient Retrofit (such as Lighting Retrofit, Power Factor Correction, Motor Control / Variable Frequency Drive Retrofit)
The IEC Excellence in Construction Service Award honors an IEC member (Contractor Company or Service Department) that excels in providing “above and beyond” electrical service and/or low-voltage work to its customers.
IEC emphasizes the importance of safety across the industry and encourages members to make it a core priority within their companies. To celebrate outstanding achievements in this area, IEC offers annual safety awards and recognition to its members.
The IEC Contractor Safety Awards honor IEC Contractor Member Companies who exceed OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other relevant standards to create a safe and healthy workplace. Contractors are evaluated on their safety records and how they demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety that goes beyond standard industry practices.
The IEC Safety Professional of the Year Award honors an IEC member (Individuals) who has achieved outstanding success in occupational safety and health (OSH). This individual demonstrates unique, engaging, and effective approaches to safety programs, making a profound and positive impact on safety within the electrical industry.
The SPARK program provides a company-assessment method for evaluating your company’s safety program by giving it a “safety check-up.” This is not a competition, and the evaluation will not be reprinted, circulated, or published by IEC or its Chapters.
