IEC Policy Conference 2024

Annual IEC Policy Conference a Resounding Success!

Over 80 advocates descended on Washington for the 2024 IEC Policy Conference to hear from industry experts and lobby Congress on issues critical to the industry.  The meeting was kicked off with candidates and former members of Congress, Yvette Harrell (R-NM) and Maya Flories (R-TX), participating in the Welcome reception. Attendees also heard from current members of Congress, which included Senator Pete Ricketts (R-NE), Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH) and Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA), IEC’s Rising Star. Attendees to the IEC PAC dinner had a chance to visit with Congressmen Pat Fallon (R-TX), Kevin Hern (R-OK) and Derrick Van Orden (R-WI).

The Policy Conference program also included insights from labor policy experts, who discussed efforts by the National Labor Relations Board to bolster union organizing, as well as significant changes by the Biden administration to alter labor and employment policy. Other experts discussed the pending Apprenticeship rule and the current economic outlook for the industry.

During lunch, keynote speaker Charlie Cook provided in depth analysis of the current state of the presidential election and his perspective on what the path to victory looks like for both candidates. The day long program was capped off with an insider’s perspective on inner workings of Congress and the importance of advocacy from former Congressman Tom Graves (R-GA).

Attendees concluded the Conference’s events by participating in nearly 90 visits on Capitol Hill where they lobbied on critical labor and workforce issues impacting the industry.
