On Friday, August 7, the U.S. Senate confirmed James Macy and David Prouty, President Donald Trump’s nominees to the National Labor Relations Board, by a vote of 51 to 47.
Macy’s and Prouty’s new terms will expire Aug. 27, 2030, and Aug. 27, 2031, respectively.
By confirming the two candidates, the Senate has ensured the NLRB retains a quorum. With Macy’s confirmation, the Board now has a 3-1 Republican majority, allowing it to resume deciding cases and pursue rulemakings, including reconsideration of several Biden-era labor policies that IEC and the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace have opposed.
Following the Senate HELP Committee’s approval of the nominees, IEC submitted its own letter of support for the nominees and joined 27 employer organizations in a coalition letter urging the full Senate to act quickly.
