Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) Announces Leadership Transition

Nashville, TN, May 2, 2025 – Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) announces a leadership transition following the resignation of Executive Director Thayer Long. The IEC Board of Directors has unanimously appointed Amy Biedenharn as the organization’s new Executive Director.

A Certified Association Executive (CAE), Biedenharn brings extensive experience in association and volunteer management. She is known for building strong relationships with members, volunteers, and industry partners and has a proven track record in strategic planning, board leadership, membership programming, and event execution. Over the past 15 months, she has led IEC’s membership and chapter development initiatives, helping to strengthen the organization’s national footprint and member engagement.

“I’m honored and excited to step into this role and continue championing the merit shop voice across our industry,” said Biedenharn. “IEC has achieved tremendous progress, and I’m ready to keep that momentum going. This organization is strong, the vision is clear, and the path forward is full of opportunity. I’m committed to providing stability, staying true to our mission, and leading IEC with energy and focus as we continue to support our contractors, apprentices, and chapters nationwide.”

The IEC Board expresses its appreciation to Thayer Long for his leadership during a transformative period for the organization and thanks him for his years of service.

With Biedenharn’s appointment, IEC enters this next chapter with confidence and clarity, continuing its mission to advance the electrical and systems contracting industry through innovation, education, and advocacy.
